NGRL Manchester undertakes projects in three areas:

Informatics

Our informatics team develops and maintains informatic resources that diagnostic genetic services require in order to operate and develop effectively. Resources include DMuDB, SNPCheck and the Universal Browser. We provide suitable training and support for these and other applications used in laboratories. We are also collaborators in the European Gen2Phen, DG Sanco and EuroGentest projects. more >

Quality Assurance

We have long-standing links with National and International bodies involved in quality assurance and have led many initiatives in this area. During recent years we have developed initiatives in best practice guidelines, reference materials, quality management systems and external quality assessment. We continue to maintain and develop these services, provide training, and we will address the need to extend quality assurance to new technologies such as non-invasive pre-natal diagnosis. more >

Technology Assessment

NGRL Manchester provides expertise, information and advice in order to bring new technologies into diagnostic service. We aim to be flexible and responsive to the community's needs. Next generation sequencing is of particular interest at present. We also aim to facilitate sharing of experience with new technologies within the diagnostic community. more >
