SIFT is currently unavailable at sift.jcvi.org while maintenance is performed on the site. We are assured by JCVI that it will be restored as soon as possible. In the meantime the old SIFT website is available at http://blocks.fhcrc.org/sift/SIFT.html. Read on for a quick guide on how to use this version>>

SIFT guide
  1. Access the old website http://blocks.fhcrc.org/sift/SIFT.html
  2. Select “alignment of your query sequence with related sequences”
  3. Paste in alignment or browse for alignment file on your computer
  4. Click on “Submit Query”
The software will return a set of tolerated and not tolerated amino acids for each position on the human reference sequence.

Obtaining alignments from Alamut
After selecting the gene of interest select “File” (top left) then “Export Orthologs”

Save the file on your desktop. Open with notepad if you want to copy and paste into SIFT.
