This two-day course reflects the exciting new direction of diagnostic genetics in light of recent innovations and Modernising Scientific Careers. The programme provides essential training in aspects of bioinformatics for both cytogeneticists and molecular geneticists that reflect the trend towards combined laboratory services and a flexible, multi-skilled workforce.
 
This course is ideally suited to genetics trainees and established scientists, providing both an introduction to the topic and more challenging content for experienced users. Focusing on practical exercise-based training, the content includes a foundation of essential bioinformatic theory, the basics of tool operation, up to advanced use and the critical evaluation of key tools.
 
An additional free half-day session on the morning of 1 March is also offered by the Ensembl Outreach Team for those wishing to gain a more detailed insight into the advanced features of the Ensembl Genome Browser.
