Best practice guidelines are developed by the genetics community to help laboratories operate to the same standards of service. They are developed and updated through the Clinical Molecular Genetics Society. NGRL Manchester has provided support in developing guidelines and inputs to guideline updating alongside other diagnostic laboratories in the UK and internationally.

Our goals are to:

• Maintain and develop Best Practice Guidelines in collaboration with professional societies
• Collaborate in the production of Certified Reference Materials
• Develop and provide support for implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and External Quality Assurance Systems (EQA) in laboratories
• Non-Invasive Prenatal Diagnosis (NIPD)
